A Non Wish List

After finishing the Coastal Cardi, I realized I didn't have a good relaxing knit to work on anymore. Everything I have on the needles requires thinking. So I cast on a pair of Tardis socks. I've made them before, but now that I know more about sock sizing, I'm confidant that this pair will fit me.

In other news, my birthday is next week. In past years on the blog, I would post up a wish list. This year as I thought about what would be fun to put on the wish list, I came to two conclusions.
The first was that everything I could want would lead to me needing new things. (ie I'd like a new lens, but then I'd want to get a different camera body, which would lead to needing other bits) I was becoming unhappy over something imaginary. That seemed rather stupid to me.
The second conclusion is that I'm actually really happy with what I have. I have good health, plenty of yarn to knit with, friends (blog and real life) and Scooter. What more could a girl need? So this year there will be only one wish on the wish list. I wish to remember to be happy with what I have.

Holiday Wish List

The holidays are upon us and I've been doing plenty of gift knitting. Unfortunately, I can't share what I've knit just yet. But I thought I'd post up a little holiday wish list. Just for fun.

I would very much enjoy some more Knitting Needle Cables from Knit Picks. I seem to have misplaced a number of them, or they are holding bits of different projects. Size 24 inch, 32 inch, and especially 40 inch would be lovely.

While we are on the subject of Knit Picks, I have recently started a cable pattern with a chart. I didn't realize how hard it is to keep track of each row. For the time being, I'm using refrigerator magnets and a metal Candy Land game board cover. But I would love to replace it with a Knitting Chart Keeper from Knit Picks.

I've wanted Latvian Mittens by Lizbeth Upitis for awhile now. It was on a previous wish list. I may have previously sent a facebook message to a particular brother of mine when he asked what I might like. He still hasn't gotten the hint. Here it is dude. Here is the link. Link. Link. Link. Moving on...

Now to the bigger ticket items.

I still need to replace my camera. I still have no idea what to replace it with. I'm leaning towards a Canon D60. I just want a versatile camera that can grow with me as I develop my photography skills. And I'm a sucker for the little flippy screen. It is one of my favorite features on my G6.
[edit] I actually meant a 60D, so this image is incorrect.

And this. It doesn't actually have to be a vw camper bus. It could be a truck with a camper shell. I'd just enjoy having a vehicle that I could travel in and see a bit of the country.

Half Birthday Wish List

Every once in a while I like to make a little wish list. I suppose the occasion could be my half birthday (although, those aren't quite as exciting as they were when I was younger)

I've wanted this book for awhile. I just never quite get around to buying it. Lizbeth Upitis' Latvian Mittens. I borrowed the book from the library... and renewed it continually for several months.

Next on the list, a line counter. I don't fish though. But it can be used to count out yarn yardage. This would be perfect if I ever sold when I sell my hand spun.

Along the lines of a line counter, I also would like to have a scale. The only thing that is important is that the display has to be lower so that any overlapping fiber would be above the display. An added bonus would be if it weighed in ounces, grams, and grains.

While I'm at it, I wouldn't mind having a pair of Katie's moccasins. She makes such lovely pairs.
I'm undecided if I'd like Navy and Denim Tiger Lily Moccasins, or...

The Plain Jane in blue. Knowing me, I'd be more likely to wear the plain janes. I guess I'll have to start saving up my pennies. Maybe if I'm lucky, she'll do a trade for a hand spun, hand knitted item.
