Deep Sea Wanderer KAL

Hey everyone! It's been a busy month here at Bear Ears, which means I'm woefully behind on blog reading and other important things. Regardless of how much is going on, there is always time for knitting! Now that I'm not knitting for the book, I have time to knit for myself... from the book.
I'm hosting a Deep Sea Wanderer KAL over on the Bear Ears ravelry group, and I'd love for you all to join me. I'll be casting on mine on October 4th. And I've already bought my yarn: Tosh DK in Cousteau. (The same as in the book.)

In other news, the preorder for Lit Knits is coming to a close. After September 25th, the book and ebook will only be available separately. Once the preorder closes, the printed copy of the book will be unavailable to order until mid-November. (Unless the printer is super fast, then it could be as early as late October.)

Sock Hop

After writing yesterday's post, I was super motivated to finish up the Boromir socks. Ta Da! Finished Boromir socks. Blocked and all.

I spent all my time from when I put up yesterday's post until midnight. It was worth it. I feel great having a finished project that isn't The Book related.

And as I said, I would cast on something new as soon as I finished the Boromir socks. This is a going to be a pair of ribbed socks out of Socks That Rock medium weight in the colorway Farmhouse. And I'm just in love with how the color is striping. 

And I knit up the very last swatch for design #8 for The Book. I'll be casting on for this project shortly. The yarn is Madelinetosh DK in the colorway Cousteau.

Halfway Done

It's offical. I'm halfway done with the pattern writing for The Book. I no longer have to hear my least favorite phrase, "You're almost halfway done." Almost and halfway are two rather depressing words in the English language and a bit more depressing when put together. Luckily, I'm past that.

I have the yarn for the next design. Or at least I thought I did. I'd gotten a little stalled on the next design. For me, that means one of two things have happened. Either the design doesn't seem balanced enough or my yarn choice isn't quite right. In this case, I realized that the yarn I had chosen wasn't quite the right weight to show off the design.

So I did some late night yarn shopping. I'm still using Madelinetosh in the Cousteau colorway. But instead of the Merino Light base, I'll be using the DK base.
