What's funny is if you look at all my recent sweaters, they are green, blue, grey, or some combination of. Orange and purple are not my colors.
Top to bottom is the Robin Hoodie, Pente, Grace, and Pomme de Pin.
I know how this happened though. I have this habit of seeing sock yarn and declaring that "It's for socks!" in order to bypass the practical side of my brain that would say, "But you only wear green/blue/grey." Luckily for me, I do love wearing wild colored socks. The louder they are, the easier it is to drown out the practical side of my brain when shopping for yarn.
Who else has a particular color or color combo they buy, but isn't very practical for the wardrobe? If anyone happens to blog on the topic, please post a comment with a link. I'd love to read about it.

Socks are a great place to go wild!
Oh.. good luck with choosing ! All those patterns look so good...
With sock yarn, I like to buy all the colours that don't look good next to my face, or the screaming bright ones, or the very specled ones that I would never want a garment of.... I really love to go all wild with socks, totally agree with WildflowerWool
That's one of my favourite things about socks! I do wear colour, but socks are where I can really go wild. Wearing bright pink socks on a day when the rest of what I'm wearing is the in dark-blue range is so perfect. I think it's because I like and enjoy lots of colours, even though I don't think they're all suited to me. Socks are the perfect way to play with them without being left with garments I'll never wear.
That's so funny! I've noticed in the past that a lot of the socks I knit tend to involve pink/red tones while most of what I actually wear are blues/greens...so my socks rarely match. They're fun, though!
Before I discovered the world of hand knit socks, I wore black or white socks exclusively. Now I have a rainbow of socks in my drawer! I think I'm very boring though - I still seem to knit socks that will match with my clothes!
Same goes for me, with socks I really let myself go wild colourwise, whereas I'm usually not so adventurous with colours in the rest of my wardrobe.
