End Of An Era

Friday was my last day of work at the wool mill. It was rather bittersweet.

I'm sure going to miss touching fiber all day.

Playing with Baloo and Bagheera.

Maybe just Baloo. I'm actually a bit afraid of Bagheera. He plays with claws.

I'll definitely miss seeing the new lambs. This little guy is quite a character.

He has a white tail! How funny is that. I think I might name him bunny. Once he's docked he'll look like a little cotton tail.

I Was A Teenaged Kitten

The kittens have been slacking. They missed a mouse in one of the buildings. (Warning: the next picture is going to be a bit graphic)

This is what happens when a mouse gets carded. The kittens have been eating many mice, so it hasn't happened in awhile. But apparently they have become teenage kittens and enjoy snoozing.

We also have a foxtail problem around the mill. So far we have found foxtails in a lamb's eye, one of the kitten's eyes, and now this poor guy. At least he still has one eye left. After Marcail pulled out the foxtail, he refused to leave her hand.

I've been knitting a bunch too. I finally found some yarn for my Mr. Tumnus scarf. I've been dreaming about making a scarf like Mr. Tumnus' from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe movie for some time now. The yarn is by Touch. It is called Alpine on the label, but it also referred to as Brushed.

I also have started my very first sweater. The pattern is called Iceland from Rowan 42. The yarn is Tui by Zealana.

It's been a busy week, but I still managed to meet up with Brennan. He had a surprise for me. I've been told it does something cool when the mug is hot.

Kitten Trouble

Baloo has decided that he wants attention All The Time. He climbed in between my hands while I was tying skeins.

Baloo: Where are you going?

Baloo: Wait for me! I want to come too.

Baloo; You always make getting a chin scratch so difficult.

Baloo and Bagheera have also taken to napping in the wool that is drying. They have pretty good taste. They always manage to find the Merino wool whenever we have any out.

Dripping Wax

I finished the Icarus Shawl about a month ago, but it took me awhile to get a good picture of it.

Luck for me, Bryn came by and is an excellent model. The shawl was done with Knit Picks Shadow in the color way Oregon Coast. It took 2.1 skeins.

On top of being a lovely model, Bryn is an excellent houseguest. Anyone who leaves this kind of gift behind is welcome any time.

Recently the kittens figured out where I live. It was cute for about five minutes. But Baloo wouldn't stop mewing and Bagheera wouldn't stop climbing the screen. In the morning they walked with me to work.

Three Week Old Kittens

The kittens are so cute they make my brain hurt.

They are so playful. I tickled one of the kitten's tummies and she wiggled around.

This one is Baloo. It is a bit chubbier than the other kittens. All the kittens have blue eyes.

Sher Khan climbed up my tummy and eventually made it to my shoulder. She mewed into my ear. So cute. If kittens stayed kittens forever, I'd want one.

In other news, Scooter has a new favorite spot on the couch. He loves the couch arm. I get bonus points when I put a pillow there for him.

Kitties

Kittens were born at the mill on Thursday! I started naming them after characters from The Jungle Book. Here is Sher Khan.

They are so cute. They like to say "Mew", which I assume means, "Where is the milk bar?"

I can't wait until they want to play.

In other news, my lovely and talented friend Kate has loaned me her spinning wheel, an Ashford Joy of Spinning Wheel. I'm in love. It is so easy to spin on this machine. (Look at the nice posture Scooter has)

In no time I went from spinning singles.

To having some plied yarn. Go me!
