Yarn For Me, Yarn For You

Today is indeed my birthday. So far I've had lunch with one of my closest friends. And I'll be going to knit night in a little bit. It's been a quiet, but lovely day. But I've decided to make it a bit of a reverse birthday. So far I've given away my Coastal Cardi, but I'd like to give something to one of my lovely readers. I've been hanging onto a skein of Manos silk blend (30% Silk, 70% Merino Wool) in the 300S color and I'd like to give it away.

So to be a part of this give away, leave me a comment with one of your favorite birthday memories. (And a way to contact you if you win.) The giveaway will last from right now until 11:59PM Sunday the 19th PST. I'm happy to ship the skein anywhere, but won't take responsibility if customs decides to keep this yummy yarn for themselves. So if anyone else's birthday is today, Happy Birthday! And if it isn't your birthday, a very Happy Un-Birthday to you!

My favorite birthday memory? My mom tends to get a little crazy about birthdays...one year my parents rented a petting zoo for our back yard. I distinctly remember being led around the yard on a pony, and one of the goats definitely ate our bushes. And that silk blend looks great! I have a single skein in different shades of pinks and purples that would probably match that one very well. Maybe a scarf? Thanks so much for the reverse present and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

One of my favorite birthday memories was when I turned 40. My parents and my sisters took me downtown for tea and then I had a dinner at a restaurant with my husband at a place that we both really like. We continued celebrating a few days later with more relatives and friends.

This is not perhaps a "good" memory, but I'll never forget it. It was my sister's seventh birthday party, and twenty or so of her friends were there. We saw a little play, and then went to a room below the theater for cake. My mom had the cake in a corner of the room and as she turned to bring it to the table, she dropped it on the floor. Nothing is quite as sad as dropped birthday cake. So much heartbreak on those little faces. I'm not sure how she fixed it, but I don't think anyone cried at least.

Wow! That's really nice of you! Happy Birthday by the way! My favorite birthday memory is the year that I got a pink bike and all I wanted was cake! My parents were a little disappointed but now it's funny to think how much I love riding bikes now!

Happy Birthday Audry! I hope you had a lovely day and that at least someone gave you a present!!?

Not that I'm hankering after the yarn, but in the spirit of sharing... we didn't celebrate birthdays when I was a kid (my mum is ultra religious). However, once I reached adulthood and had my own life, my favourite birthday was my 30th. After a very good night out with friends, my then boyfriend surprised me with a night in a suite at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. It was very special.

Such beautiful yarn. Thank you for sharing your birthday celebrations with us. Happy Birthday.

One of my favorite birthday memories is mint chocolate chip ice cream cake with chocolate cake from Baskin Robbins. My mom would get this for me as a kid. A few years ago I relived this childhood memory and asked my husband to get me one.

oo I love Manos. In fact, one great birthday memory is going to a yarn shop in Bridgton, ME with my mom where she bought me a few beautiful skeins of yarn, including one deep purple color of the Manos. That was 2 years ago and I still haven't knit it up yet! Just waiting for the perfect project, I guess..

Happy birthday! And what lovely-looking yarn. My most memorable birthday so far was spending a few days in Auckland, NZ. Loved it so much that I plan on moving there this year. :-)

Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

Happy Birthday (again)! I hope you got to eat a big fat cake and someone waited on you hand and foot.

My most memorable birthday was last year! I went to San Antonio and I got to watch my husband graduate from boot camp and see him for the first time in months. :)

Happy birthday! Maybe you took a day off? Anyways, it's always nice to spend time with friends and knit nights well, is certainly that too! Manos! Mmmmm... It's a yarn company that really intrigues me. I'd love to try it some time! A favorite birthday memory? It's rather recent. It is my nephew and niece writing nice things like "Je t'aime" in the card! I read it over and over again! Enjoy the rest of YOUR day! And you are so generous to have a giveway on your birthday! Cheers!

You share a birthday with my dad - I hope it was a happy one!

One of my favourite birthday memories is of the time I went rock-collecting with my mom and some of her friends and we ended up eating a picnic lunch on the side of the road.
