Whew! I've been gone for a whole week from this blog. But I assure you it was for the best reason. Remember the cardigan I made for my Oma? Well, instead of mailing it, I decided that I would travel up to Oregon and hand deliver it. It was a surprise delivery. Guess who loves her new cardigan.
There was a really neat map sculpture at the rest stop. This stop is a little south of Redding.
Normally we don't go up to Oregon in winter. The pass near Ashland is frequently icy and we don't have chains. But it was pretty mild last week. I did enjoy seeing the winter light by Mt. Shasta. This picture was taken at the rest stops just north of Weed. We stop at a lot of rest stops...
I plan on posting a few more bits and pieces of the trip this week. Then back to knitting!

Your Oma looks great and so pleased with her new cardi!! It suits her perfectly. I bet you felt really happy!
Beautiful sweater on a beautiful woman! This will be a blessing to her and to you for MANY years to come! God gave you a wonderful set of gifts, Audry, and may He continue to bless you for sharing your talents to bring happiness to others!
This is a sweet post, Audry--and lovely portraits of your Oma. I like the snake sign too--if we all exercised "reasonable watchfulness," maybe lawsuits would become obsolete :P
Lovely sweater! That color is really nice on your Oma and I have been in love with that pale blue recently. The snake sign is a little unsettling too, I don't know if I'd want to go back...
Seems like this sweater was made for your Oma! That must have been a very special moment! I love it! Oh, and I would never go to that rest stop with the snakes... :-(
Oh my too cute! How sweet you are to knit her a sweater! It looks gorgeous, too.
The cardi has turned out beautifully and it looks like your Oma is really happy with it
